Why in-place beats take-down
Drapes are often the largest fabric surface in a home. Traditional dry-cleaning requires removing them (with a ladder), transporting them, cleaning them, ironing them, and re-hanging them (with a ladder). Every step introduces shrinkage risk, especially for silk or wool blends. In-place steam cleaning skips all of it — the drape stays where it belongs, we clean it there, done.
What we clean
Silk drapes (with color-fastness test first). Cotton and linen. Polyester and synthetic blends. Sheer overlays. Blackout linings. Some hand-embroidered pieces — we’ll evaluate on-site. What we don’t clean in-place: heavy antique silk with metallic threads, hand-painted pieces, and anything visibly damaged.
Coastal salt film reality
OC coast and Malibu homes see the fastest drape dulling. Salt air deposits a thin film on fabric fibers that dust sticks to. Vacuuming removes surface dust but not the salt underneath. Steam extraction dissolves and removes both. Recommended every 6–12 months for coastal homes.

How long does it take?
About 15–20 minutes per panel including setup. Whole-room bundles typically wrap in 60–90 minutes.
How long until they’re dry?
2–3 hours in normal air conditions. Faster if AC is running or windows are open.
Can you clean silk without water-marking?
For most modern woven silks, yes — steam extraction at controlled temperature won’t mark. For antique silk or heavy dupioni, we test a hidden panel first. If we see marking on the test, we recommend take-down and specialty off-site cleaning.
