Wool, silk, viscose, cotton, synthetic. Different rugs need different processes. We identify the fiber before we clean, test color-fastness on a hidden edge, and never use one-size-fits-all solutions.
Fiber-specific process
Synthetic rugs (nylon, polypropylene, olefin) get standard HWE. Wool needs pH-neutral wool-safe solutions and cooler water to avoid felting. Silk and viscose are the delicate category — often off-site is safer than in-home for high-value pieces. Cotton rugs behave more like fabric than carpet and need gentler agitation. We identify the fiber before touching it.
In-home vs off-site
Standard synthetic and wool rugs typically get cleaned in-home the same day. Delicate rugs (silk, antique, hand-knotted, high-value) go off-site to our partner facility for controlled washing, immersion, and drying. Off-site typically adds 5–10 business days but is the only responsible option for pieces where a mistake would be permanent.
Color-fastness testing
Every rug gets a small color-fastness test on a hidden corner before we clean the visible area. If dye is unstable (common in cheap synthetic dyes and some Persian pieces), we adjust the process or refer you to a specialist. We’d rather turn down a job than ruin a rug.

Do I need to move furniture off the rug?
Ideally yes. If it’s heavy, we’ll help move light furniture during arrival. Anything too heavy stays and we clean around it.
How long does a rug take to dry?
In-home cleaning: 4–8 hours depending on rug thickness and airflow. Off-site: rugs come back fully dry.
Can you clean a rug with pet urine damage?
Fresh urine, yes — HWE plus enzyme treatment usually pulls it out. Old set-in urine that has soaked into the backing may need off-site immersion or, in worst cases, professional restoration. We’ll be honest during walk-through.
